Abigail Bensman (she/her) is a native Texan…but she’s from AUSTIN, the cool part of Texas (Keep Austin Weird!), with a New Yorker mother, who introduced her to Musical Theatre and Broadway at a brain-chemistry-altering young age.
Abigail played the fun-loving and free-wheeling Brenda on the '23-'24 HAIRSPRAY BROADWAY NATIONAL TOUR, directed by Matt Lenz (the original Broadway associate director of Hairspray).
Abigail just closed 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee (Logainne), at TUTS / Theatre Under the Stars in Houston, directed by Dan Knechtges (the original Broadway choreographer of Spelling Bee) and starring Tony-nominee Kevin Cahoon as Panch.
Abigail’s Spelling Bee content/videos have had approximately 8 Million views, across her 3 online platforms. She is a Theatre Content Creator on TikTok, YouTube, and IG with 95K+ highly engaged followers, known for inspiring, supporting, and educating young performers.
She started her online content when she played Johanna in Sweeney Todd, and then really started gaining a large following when she played Katherine in Newsies at Zilker Theatre Productions - the city of Austin’s free summer musical in the city’s landmark, Zilker Park, which has been an iconic Austin event for over 60 years. Approximately 45,000 people attend this free large-scale musical each summer.
Abigail is a 2021 B. Iden Payne award winner for her performance in Impact Art's - Bring it On (Eva). Other notable credits include: a SWING at Zach Scott’s A Christmas Carol, Ride the Cyclone (Ocean), Bright Star (Alice Murphy), Tarzan the Musical (Jane Porter), Beauty and the Beast (Belle), Into the Woods (Cinderella) and Ingenue/Elena in the World Premier of Anton Chekhov is a Tasty Snack.
In Abigail's free time, she loves hanging with her rescue pets – 2 good dogs and 1 naughty cat.
